Morning Announcements - April 22nd, 2026

Happy Earth Day!  Today we encourage students to consider their daily habits and the contributions to wasting water. If you use a reusable water bottle, bring it  by the Project Earth tables at lunch to enter a raffle and pick up a sticker for your water bottle.  Did you know….?

                          * Less than 1% of the water on Earth can be used by humans.

*Nearly 75% of indoor water use occurs in the bathroom.

                           *Taking a 5-minute   shower uses 25-50 gallons.

                           * Turning off the tap while brushing teeth saves 4 gallons per minute.

Thursday’s theme :  Thrifting Thursday. Project Earth will have a table to collect clothing donations.

Did you know?   We are considered the Waste Generation: The average American generates roughly 4.7 pounds of waste per person per day.

Do you love singing?

Come audition for A Cappella Choir, Choraleers, and show choir. Auditions will be this week, April 13-24. Worried about auditioning, join Treble Pop! Or join them all!! Don't miss out on the fun! Scan the QR code on the flyers around the school, or see Dr. Bonds-Gess for more information!

Camp Counselors Needed:

Ms. Harris and Ms. Hakkio at Westerly are looking for BHS students to volunteer as camp counselors at STEM Camp for grades 1-5.  Camp will be held the last 2 weeks of June at Westerly.

This is a great opportunity to build leadership skills, your resume, volunteer hours, and share your love of science with younger students who look up to you.  A lot of kids participate so a lot of HS volunteers are needed.

Email Mrs. Sutterlin or stop by Room 211 if you are interested!

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE:

The Student Council is hosting a Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, April 23. Students and staff that are 16 and older are able to donate - 16 year olds must fill out the parental consent form after signing up (a form will be sent to you the day before your donation). Donations take about 45-60 minutes and you will be given a pass to attend your appointment in the East Gym.
