The Board of Education voted to amend the district’s attendance policy for the 2024-25 school year, and that decision is linked here. Therefore, Bay Village Schools will reduce the number of days a student can miss school before a physician’s note is required.
- That number will go from 10 days per school year, to 6 days per school year, (3 days per semester). Otherwise it will be recorded as an unexcused absence.
Bay Village Schools believes that school attendance is fundamental to a student’s success – academically, socially and emotionally – and the district knows our families agree that good attendance is important for a successful school experience.
Here is some information to consider…If a student misses two days of school each month:
- They will miss 20 days of school each year.
- They will miss 30 hours of math each year.
- They will miss 60 hours of reading each year.
- They will have missed more than one year of school by the time they graduate.
