Congratulations to the 7th Grade Girls Basketball team as they defeated the Pirates of Rocky River yesterday for the 2nd time in 10 days. The game was a back-and-forth battle all game long as the lead changed hands many times. The. Pirates took control early, racing out to an 8-2 lead until Maddie Hughes got the Rocket attack going in the 2nd quarter with two straight baskets, followed by Maggie Anderson nailing a 3-pointer and Lilly Harmon and Audrey Weingart scoring as well. Unfortunately, the Rockets 7-point halftime lead quickly evaporated as they fell behind early in the 4th quarter. But with about 4 minutes to go, Bay found the defensive pressure they were looking for and made the shots when they needed them the most to take control of the game and secure the 32-24 win. Anna Spellman fueled the Rocket comeback in the final minutes by scoring a game-high 10 points, all in the 4th quarter. At the same time, Mary Linehan, Ava Dukes, and Chloe Kazma also contributed to the scoring column.
